About Us
Baby Coconut makes solid wood furniture for small children: bookshelves they can reach, tables sized to their arms, chairs and stools built at their height rather than ours.
Why we build at child height
A child who can reach their own books chooses their own book. A child who can climb into their own chair sits down when they are ready. Furniture scaled to a small body quietly removes the need for an adult to intervene, and that is the whole idea behind the Montessori approach to a prepared environment. Everything we make is built around it.
What we make things from
Our range is made from solid woods and engineered woods chosen for how they wear: pine, beech, rubberwood, cherry, birch plywood and marine grade plywood. We list the material and full dimensions on every product page, because a piece of furniture in a child’s room should be something you can assess properly before buying.
Design that stays out of the way
Children’s furniture is often loud. Bright plastics, cartoon shapes, primary colours. We take the opposite view. A room a child spends years in should be calm, and the furniture in it should still look right when they are seven, not just when they are two. So we keep to natural finishes and simple forms, and let the room around them do the rest.
Where we are
Baby Coconut is based in Washington, Georgia, and ships across the United States. Shipping is free on every order.
